Free Workshop For Breast Cancer Patients
Posted by admin - 16/10/09 at 09:10 am
On Thursday, November 5, at 7 pm, people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer are invited to a free workshop demonstrating how to choose the right exercise level after breast cancer. The workshop involves breathing techniques, slow body movements and “Thera-bands,” elastic bands that offer varying levels of resistance, enabling participants to work at their own level. The workshop will be held at Alumni House, Adelphi University, 154 Cambridge Avenue, Garden City.
The workshop is conducted by Margaret M. Bores, MS in Education, who is a licensed physical therapy assistant, exercise specialist, certified personal trainer, health/fitness instructor and breast self-exam lecturer. She is a breast cancer survivor and is involved in community service with ACS and the Arthritis Foundation.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and supportive shoes and bring bottled water.
The workshop is open only to those who have had breast cancer. Pre-registration is required. Call 516-877-4325.
This program is sponsored by a grant from the LI2Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer.
